Overnight Get Away: Part 2

Race Day!!!

The day started SUPER early with having to leave the hotel a little before 7am (ugg) to get Jeff to the race site in time for the prayer (7:15). Rhyan and I decided to drop him off and head back to the hotel for the free continental breakfast. We enjoyed make your own waffles (yum!), cereal, a fresh orange, a mini bagel and some juice. In other words, we took full advantage. After getting showered and packed up, we headed to the race site to meet up with Jeff as he finished!

2hours, 9minutes, 17seconds of running earns you a pretty medal

The race site was Praters Mill in Varnell, Ga. It was beautiful! We took a little while to enjoy the water and take a few pics!

Jeff had taken off his shoes to wade in the cool water and Rhyan really thought she needed to join him... so i took off ONE sock and shoe and as soon as her toes hit the gravel she started saying "Noooo, noooo, noooo". She still wanted to walk in it, just with her shoes on! No maam! So she decided it was ok to just touch it.

My FAVORITE pic of the day!
Isnt this place gorgeous?!

Trying on mommy's shades

Jeff saw the chick-fil-a cow and actually came and told me there was a photo op for me!
But Rhyan thought otherwise! HA! She wasnt really a fan of the "towwwww"

A few minutes later, she did warm up a little at least!
I had mentioned in the previous post that Rhyan's behavior was slightly less than predictable. When we got ready to leave the race area, she started crying out of nowhere. It lasted for almost 5 minutes for seemingly no reason at all! We made sure she didnt get bit by something but couldnt find anything! I told Jeff that I really thought that it must just be because she was so tired... and sure enough within 2 minutes of being in the car, she was out like a light! She stayed asleep through me taking her into the hotel and slept on our king bed for almost an hour! Jeff got cleaned up and we finished getting packed up while she rested. And just before we had to check out, she woke up in a MUCH better mood :-) It's amazing to see what sleep (and the deprivation of) does to a kid's personality!

So, one last stop before heading out... LUNCH!
Overall opinion of the short get-away: It was too short! I think it was fun, but in the future I'd prefer to stay away for two nights just to give a little more consistency to Rhyan and not be on the road SO much in such a short time! But really, we did have a nice time and I'm glad we went. It was a good learning experience and a nice time for our family :-)
