Father/Daughter Date night at CFA!
Each year, CFA hosts Daddy/Daughter date night! We love this because it combines two of Rhyans favorite things... CFA and time with her daddy! We reserved a spot for the 5:30 (i think) slot at a nearby chick fil a and Rhyan was SOOOOOO excited!
But.... yes, there is a but...
Jeff ended up having a ball game that ran late. Way late. In fact, it was a previously rained out game that was rescheduled to this day which completely irritated me. I'm SO supportive of Jeff coaching and all the hard work he does... GO ARCHER TIGERS!... but i like a schedule way in advance so i can make plans for our family around the busy baseball schedule. So i'm typically NOT a happy camper when things get rescheduled. Yes, i realize that its just a part of baseball. But i dont have to like EVERYTHING about it! ;-)
So Rhyan and Jeff MISSED their reservation. She totally did NOT understand, though! She just kept saying "i'm so excited for my date with my daddy"!. So we decided that when he got home, he could clean up and they would just head on up to CFA, hoping it would work out...
Rhyan spent a while deciding what to wear and this was her choice. Shes BIG into dressing herself and always wants to pick out everything... so sometimes things dont match exactly. But seeing as how I'm not crafty and we dont do crafts much around here, I figure that dressing herself is her little bit of creativity coming out, so we go with it :-) She also took a while deciding how she wanted her hair.
These next pics are pretty close, but some are cute of Rhyan and some of Mack... so i posted them all.
Mack was NOT happy... his canines were coming in (hence the red cheeks) and he was a sad boy... :-(
Finally, at 6:30, Jeff got home and got all cleaned up (he cleans up NICE!). Rhyan was SO stinkin sweet and excited. She couldnt stop telling him "Daddy, you look so pretty! Do i look pretty daddy? I picked out my outfit for you, daddy! We're gonna have fun, Daddy!!". It about made me cry! SO sweet!
They ended up getting in at CFA but Jeff said since they didnt have a reservation (and i'm sure he DIDNT explain why/what had happened...) he didnt feel right about taking advantage of their professional photographer. BOO!!! That made me so sad! AND, they were offering limo rides and he passed up on that, too! Rhyan totally didnt care but i hope that as she gets older, he will kind of put himself out there to speak up for HER, even if he doesnt feel he deserves something! But he's always so polite to the point of missing out on stuff. A good/bad thing sometimes ;-)
But when they got home, she was ALL smiles about the sweet time she had with her Daddy!
I was telling Shlaine (my aunt who i grew up with who is more like a sister) about this and she reminded me that Daddy took HER on a date, once, too. That he dressed up and took her to some place that had a big fish(?) on the wall and asked to sit right under that fish as a special prize for her and that she was in HEAVEN. We shared the most perfect daddy, ever :-) It makes me smile to think that Jeff is following in his footsteps in being a GREAT Daddy! I was a blessed girl to have my Daddy, and i know that Rhyan will feel the same way as she looks back on sweet times like this!

Hair do number 2...

Overexposed, but THIS was her final product with her hair. I liked it MUCH better :-)

Happy New Year! HA!
So, clearly i'm behind. Lets just skip the excuses and get to CATCHING UP! I've gotta get this done before vacation next week or i'll never do it. So if you're interested, stay tuned for several posts!
And THAT pretty much wraps up our life in January. Pretty low key, lacking of drama. Just the way I like it!
Sweet Shelby came over for a play date one day and Rhyan was in HEAVEN!!!
BAD FACE! haha!
Rhyan and I made brownies one night and made a bit of a mess!
But how can i be mad at this sweet face?!
Rhyan looooves to take pics.... a bit overexposed but still sweet!
I know Rhyan will be SO glad to learn to read... she loves "reading" to her little brother. Mack, is obviously enthralled ;-)
Awwww... SPUD!
Selfie, at Rhyan's request
Rhyans beautiful work of art... I pretty much detest anything crafty, including painting, but my girl insists on it, so i have to let her occasionally! She told me that this is "burning bush" and "cant you see God?"
Meanwhile, our baby boy is obsessed with TRAINS! All things Thomas are popular with him!
The only problem is that he likes the motorized trains on the tracks but he insists on sitting INSIDE the track and inevitably his bootie knocks the train off the tracks and he FREAKS! Let the screams commence. Whew. The boy has lungs. And no patience!

Happy Birthday lil' Man Mack
Mack turned TWO on Friday... where have the last two years gone?!
FYI, i'm so behind on my blog b/c of procrastination for one, business for two and my inability to get my pics onto cd's so i can delete them from my computer and download new ones (my memory on my computer is about used up... no, i'm not computer savvy...). Excuses, excuses...
My Sweet Mack,
Two and a half years ago when we found out we were having a BOY, i remember some members of our family saying they didnt a stinky BOY... they wanted another girl. I wont name those family members for fear that it may crush your spirits (but hint, hint, their names rhyme with "ammy" and "ayer"). But now that you've been a part of our lives for two years and we've had that long to get to know you, not one single person wishes you were anything but YOU. Stinky boy and all. You are scrumptious! And we all adore you!
I've been really slack at doing your quarterly updates, missing your 15 and 18 month updates on the blog. Not to be mean, but you were pretty much in a bad spot from 15-18 months so it might be a blessing in disguise ;-). We loved you through it, but it was not the easiest phase for you, or us. Lots of screaming. Lots of crying. Lots and lots and lots of whining. And disobeying. And time out. Whew. I'm so grateful its over! (Please God, tell me its over!)
And now, you're TWO! And while we still have an occasional hiccup, you are for the most part SO much joy for our family! I think the fact that you had 1 year molars AND canines coming in between 15-18 months had a LOT to do with the bad phase, and I know that your two year molars are coming soon, but I'm really crossing fingers that we will all be able to handle it a little better when there are only four teeth coming instead of eight. Bless your heart!
At two years old you are:
-In size 5 diapers in the day, size 6 at night. Interested in the potty and actually squeezed out a little pee pee recently and on occasion you poopie on the potty. I'm hoping you'll be easy to train, but am not stressing over it. It'll happen when it happens :-)
-In 24 mo or 2T clothing
-Kind of a freak about shoes. We dreaded the day that you grew out of your favorite tennis shoes b/c you always pitched a fit if we tried to put anything else on you. For a long time (in the winter) I decided to not make an issue of it but now that its summer... well, son, you cant wear tennis shoes to the beach or pool. So I've bought you a pair of brown, cute sandals, a pair of crocs, a pair of flip flops and new tennis shoes. We've had melt downs about the flip flops which i'm assuming may be because you dont like stuff between your toes, so we've moved on from those. You prefer your crocs which is fine, unless you get a spec of dirt in them which makes you freak as you yell "i dirty! i dirty". :-)
-LOVING Thomas trains and Cars best. You know most of the Thomas theme song and are sure to yell out each name of the trains during the song. You even go to bed and sing it to yourself (we hear you yelling "THOMAS! JAMES! ERCY! ORDON! EELY! ENRY! EDWARD! TOBY!" haha... you miss some of the letters in the names, which i also love! You got a train table handed down to you from some friends and are pretty much in love!
-Able to count to 12 and only miss the number 4. I think thats pretty darn good!
-Know a LOT of your ABC's. Idk what letters you miss, but i'd say its about 1/2 and 1/2 right now?
-Loving to pray. You love to say certain words in the blessing at dinner time but, true to Mack form, you yell them :-) Makes for interesting looks if we eat out, for sure.
-ONLY sucking your thumb in bed now and only to get to sleep. Unless your teeth hurt and then we may see you pop it in from time to time but a gentle "mack... no thumb" and you pop it right back out. Funny thing now, though... at night I say our night nights and ask for a kiss and here recently you look at me and smile and pop your RIGHT thumb in your mouth. HA! You are a left thumb only sucker so you're definitely doing it to be funny. See how cute you can be?!
-Tackling your sister, chasing her and being a great, annoying little brother :-) You love to give her hugs and kisses at night, and laugh your head off when you slyly decide to take her down mid-hug!
-Quite animated! You make all kinds of funny faces and say words in funny ways to make us laugh. Sometimes I dont even think you realize you are funny!
-Burp a TON! We treated you for a month with reflux medicine to try to get your tummy calmed down and while it may have helped a little, you still burp tons. Funny thing is you always put your hand over your mouth afterwords, say "oh wow! i burp! cuuuse me!" and laugh. So cute!
-Eating sporadically... again, it may be the teething or the fact that your taste is becoming more discriminate... either way, I wish you'd stop spitting out food that you dont like. I wish you'd just eat the one bite and refuse more. Oh well... maybe one day! haha
-Love to sing all kinds of songs!
-Do REALLY well with independent play time now! Thanks to the train table!!! You were really struggling with adjusting to our new church and Daddy thought some independent play time may be helpful and while you screamed a good bit in the beginning, you now do 30 minutes a day HAPPILY and clean up after! Thank you Lord for progress! (you are also doing GREAT in church now, too!!! halleujah!)
-Love to wake Mommy up in the morning on the weekends. You run into my room and yell "Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy!" like you havent seen me in a month! You crawl up on the bed and hug and cuddle with me and then pull back the covers and literally push up on the back of my head/face and say "up mommy! UP!". You are not very patient ;-)
-LOVING being outdoors. loving water!
-Still screaming a lot. But that is just you. Most days, its less than it used to be. You still get frustrated, but as you get older and more able to do the things your big sister does, you seem happier and happier!
-Constantly sticking your finger up your nose and saying "mommy, i dot boo-dies" LOL!
Mckinnon Andrew Ford
Your first two years of life brought all kinds of challenges. From your reflux and protein sensitivity to your sheer stubbornness and refusal to use sign language... we've had our good days and bad! But the longer I have the privilege to get to know you, the more I enjoy you!
I absolutely adore you, my sweet boy! You have the funniest personality and are so playful. Its true that I call you a "bundle of busy"... and for good reason. You're like a monkey with all of your climbing and jumping! I definitely see ER visits in our future with you ;-). But you bring so much joy to our family, lil man. Your daddy and I adore you and Rhyan is quick to say how much she loves you and how you are her BEST FRIEND! She gets upset with us if we spank you or make you cry and says "you be nice to my brother! he's my best friend!" Your Daddy and I pray that the Lord will always allow you to be life long best friends!
We love you, sweet boy! We get frustrated sometimes because we dont exactly know how to parent you all the time... and you get frustrated because we dont understand you! You keep us on our knees, asking the Lord to give us discernment on how to be your Mommy and Daddy. But this much is true... being your Mommy has taught me SO much about how our Heavenly Father feels about us, His creation. I am NOT easy to love and am not obedient all the time. I pitch fits when I dont get my way and scream when Im frustrated with the Lord sometimes. I'm not an easy child of God, and yet God loves me. And so it will always be true with you, my son... you may not be the easiest child to raise, but through you, God refines your Daddy and I and no matter what, we will always love you! Thats what family is! Unconditional, never ending love... and you've got it right here!
We love you little buddy!!!

SPARK!
I'm not the only person who almost falls asleep in my chair after lunch, right? Not that its very comforting to know, but there have been days that I've had to actually fake like I needed to grab a supply so I could get up and walk around and not doze off while cleaning teeth! (I'm a good hygienist... dont judge!). But those days are in the PAST! :-)
Now, I drink my SPARK each afternoon and am quite alert! Totally focused and ready to take care of my patients. Or kids. Or dog... whoever :-)
There are 9 great flavors but I am extremely partial to fruit punch, pink lemonade and watermelon! And it makes me feel so much better than my old "fix" of mountain dew which is FULL of sugar and super acidic. Again, dont judge. I know that I'm a hygienist... I know mountain dew is TERRIBLE for your teeth. Yes, i brushed after drinking it! Unfortunately, while i could get rid of the sugar and acid, I had a much tougher time ridding my WAIST LINE of its effects.
But spark is only 45 calories, NO sugar and 21 vitamins and minerals! There is NO crash and it does NOT make you jittery! It is by far Advocare's #1 seller and I totally see why!
I order mine in a canister (b/c its cheaper that way!) but it also comes in handy packets for on the go. Either way, you can check it out HERE.
And dont forget that advocare offers a membership (similar to a Sams membership). Its a one time $79 fee and you get a membership kit that includes $50 worth of spark and slam (their on the go 5oz energy drink... Jeff loves those for taking with him to school and drink before going for a run) and you get a 20%-40% discount for LIFE! No minimum orders! You can order once a week, once a year, etc... Its a great deal! You can learn more about that HERE.
If you're interested in a sample, let me know and I'll be happy to send some your way :-)
Happy Spark-ing!

Update on Sawyer
I could write a ton, but instead I"ll just direct you to Ashlyn's blog for more information.
They are meeting with a social worker today to discuss things as well as meeting with the surgeons to determine a date for surgery/what they will do.
Ashlyn and Josh are VERY overwhelmed right now with all of the decisions and stresses that go with a situation like this.
The main thing that they are requesting is prayer for their sweet boy and for the decisions they will make. However, I can tell that the financial worry is significant.
Paypal has allowed baby Sawyer to be considered a not for profit organization and are allowing donations to be made without charging any type of fees... meaning every penny anyone donates will go to Josh and Ashlyn!
If you are compelled to do so, I would ask that you click on the "donate" button on the upper right of the page and give any amount. Every dollar helps defray costs...
THANK YOU!

Sawyer Joshua Murphy (is HERE!)
I posted a while ago about my dear friends Ashlyn and Josh Murphy who were expecting their first baby. "Baby M" as we called him (because they kept his name a secret!) is HERE!
Ashlyn went to be induced Tuesday night at 11pm. The pediatric cardiologist had suggested that if possible, Ashlyn deliver vaginally because it would help Sawyer to expel the fluid as he was delivered. So she and Dr Pohl gave it their all!
Unfortunately, she had to undergo a C-section, though. But you know, C section babies have perfect little round heads and sweet baby Sawyer is NO exception! He is PERFECT!!!
He has been transported to Egelston and the Dr's are determining the best course of action. Josh has gone over to be with Sawyer and Ashlyn will be released hopefully in the next day or so and will head over, as well. Her Csection complicated her mobility a bit and has her uncomfortable, so prayers that the Lord would heal her body so she can focus on their son would be great! Please pray also for wisdom and guidance for the Dr's. For healing for Sawyer!!! For Josh to be strong for them all and that they would continue to find support and love in their family and friendships (which they will, no doubt!)
Here is the beautiful family of 3. Just before Sawyer was transported, Ashlyn got to hold him for the FIRST and only time so far... yall know how heart breaking that is as a mom... she just wants to hold him! Please pray that there will be LOTS more snuggling soon!
There is also a "DONATE" link at the top right of my page that allows you to donate for this sweet family. Sawyer will likely need multiple surgeries. Ashlyn is out of work (due to the pregnancy) and Josh is about maxed out on his paid time off (because of all of the dr appts). This sweet, young family could use some help, although they would never admit that. So I set up the charitable donation account (thank you to pay pal for approving them as a "charity") and it is a safe way to donate.
Most of all, please continue to pray for this sweet baby!
