McKinnon: 9 months

My little "Mack-Man"... you are NINE months old!
And i swear, you get more handsome every day!
Your Mommy and Daddy and Sister LOVE you!

Ok, so as usual, i'm behind on posting this. Which means i'm behind on writing this.
Which means i've probably forgotten a lot :-( I'm sorry, Mack! You ARE important and i DO want to remember everything. But little buddy, we're in what we call "Baseball Season" so Daddy's gone a lot and Mommy's tired. So please forgive me! :-)

STATS:
29.5 inches long (84%)
21 lbs 1oz (56%)
17.5 cm head (24%)

When i come in to get mack from nap these days, he is peeking out! Its adorable and makes for a great game of peek-a-boo! (dont worry Emily, thats a breathable bumper and we only started using one recently to keep appendages from getting stuck in the slats while sleeping!)

Mack is still a thumb sucker! As my friend Laura said, its great b/c they dont lose their thumb in the bed at night. Bad b/c i cant take it away. In time.... in time. (like, a long time from now! ha!)
Just for fun cause i NEVER have pics w/ my kiddies!
At 9 months Mack is:
-wearing 9-12 month clothes (literally happened a few days before he turned 9 months)
-in size 3 diapers in the day, size 4 at night with a "pad" (diaper doubler... best thing ever)
-napping 9-11 and 1-3 each day.
-goes to bed at 7pm and SLEEPS (hard) till 7am :-) Thank you sweet Jesus!
-taking four bottles a day of 5-6 ounces each
-eating "solids" three times a day (7am, 11am and 6pm)
-sooooo close to crawling!
-GETTING TO A SITTING POSITION! (this started literally 2 days before he turned 9months)
-has SIX teeth (got the 6th one on the same day that he got to a sitting position... big day!)
-rolls everywhere as his "mode of transportation". literally. all over the house
-waves hello and byebye

working on getting to sitting... YAY!
Mack LOVES spud. Too bad Spud doesnt really love mack. yet. we hope he will. someday!

-is growing out of his "witching hour" from 5-6 pm. He's still cranky some nights, but is much more pleasant in general (i think getting to sitting on his own really helped this)
-can point to MY nose if i ask him "where's mommy's nose?"
-can point to my eyes, as well, when asked

Mack LOVES his big sister. He's always looking for her and they play games of blowing raspberries at each other all the time. Rhyan loves to make him laugh. She has a hard time sharing toys with him and will often take his "good" toy and bring him another toy. Like, a magnet or something else totally useless :-)

Oh, how quickly things change. This TOTALLY captures my kids. Macks crying, Rhyans looking confused and frightened. Makes me laugh :-)
His TEETH!

My sweet, happy baby boy!

"AHHHHHHCHOOO!"
"that was funny!"

OH mack. I could eat you up. You're scrumptious and i love being your mama!
However, i would seriously appreciate it if 1. you'd learn to say "mama" and 2. if you'd STOP SCREAMING! You shrill and squeak in the happiest tone and its giving me a headache :-)
Thanks.

Circus 2012

One day when Ronni and I were chatting, she mentioned that she might like to get some tickets for the circus and take Rhyan. I thought it was such a sweet idea! So she got 3 tickets with the idea that we'd figure out later on who would go.

Well, it turned out that on the day of the circus, Andy had to show a house (plus, i think he was scared to take Rhyan w/o a parent... didnt know what her response would be) and Jeff was covered up in school work for his masters degree, so it ended up being a GIRLS DATE! :-)

The first half of the show, Rhyan pretty much just sat there. She was a little overwhelmed, i think. And unsure of what it was all about. But every time I'd ask her if she was having fun she'd say "YES!" and smile! She just doesnt show excitement by jumping up and down usually. Shes a little more chill than that :-)
The first thing that Rhyan saw that she talked about and got a little excited over were the horses. The little mini-horses were ADORABLE! Here, they were getting a treat!

And seriously, how do people have this kind of balance? I swear, i trip over my own two feet on the ground most days!
The tigers were another BIG hit for Rhyan! They were great!

And then there were these two guys. Wow, were they strong!

Rhyan, watching intently!
But i guess ALL of us loved the elephants the MOST! They were GREAT!!! They did all kinds of cool tricks I could have watched them for hours!

In this last pic you can see a long padded runner down the middle of the floor.. they had some GREAT gymnasts there who entertained us for a while!
Some other things I wasnt really able to get good pics of were the people who hung from those ropes from the ceiling? Idk what thats called? And the cannon ball man. Cool!!!

By the end, Rhyan didnt want to leave! We went to the 11am show and so Rhyan and i shared some french fries and water for lunch followed up by some cookies from her Gran. Thats healthy, right?! sure it is... lol

We didnt leave until after 1pm and even though Rhyan was tired, she did GREAT the whole time! Awkward moment, though... PETA people were picketing outside as we left and this one guy was dressed as an elephant. WEll, Rhyan was all like "ELEPHANT" and all excited about it. Ha... not exactly the idea the picket-er had in mind, i'm sure :-)

We had a great time! Thanks again, Gran (and frady cat Grandad) :-)

Snow Tubing at Scaly Mtn

Presidents Day Weekend we spent some relaxing time up at the mountain house with Andy and Ronni (Gran and Grandad). We had some great weather on Friday and decided to take advantage by heading up to Scaly Mountain for some snow tubing.

Its TOO BRIGHT!

They also had a jumper thing and Rhyan wanted to try it. So we paid for a combo ticket for her to jump for 15 min and do the kiddie slope for 2 hours. It cost $20 but she had a great time!

She was having a great time jumping... until I thought she'd like doing a flip. So i helped her flip and she FREAKED out :-( And that was the end of the jumping. She was so upset with me after and of course, being the sensitive mom that I am, i wanted to capture the moment with a pic. She kept saying "no picture, mommy!" and got pretty mad at me. hehe!
So back to the slopes we went (we started there and then went to the jumpy for a while). Here, her daddy was making her carry her own tube up the slope (with a little help, of course!)

Mack did not appreciate it like I thought he would. HA!

Grandad with his grandson. Sweet :-)

We had a GREAT weekend! Uncle Jason even came up and spent Saturday night w/ us.

And so i dont forget, we tried letting Rhyan sleep on a big girl bed at night Friday night of that weekend and it resulted with her getting up at 2:30am, walking into her Gran and Grandad's room (their room and hers is on the main level and jeff, mack and i stayed in the walk out basement) saying "i need to go potty". dude. I'm happy she's doing great w/ potty training, but thats what we put a pull up on her at night for! Pee in it and stay in bed, girl! LOL!

I'm such a great mom :-)

Mack was great Friday and not so great Saturday. Poor guy got two teeth the next day so it made total sense that he was SO cranky Saturday, but I was grateful that Ronni and Andy didnt kick us out and tell us to take him home! HA! Luckily he got a great nights sleep, but boy, when he was awake, we were all SAD. He was pitiful!

Good times with Mack

Grandparents are the best :-) They come visit and play and do whatever grandbabies want to do!
