Blog Giveaway
The blog that i most often reference by far is Chronicles of a Babywise mom. I love it. Its kind of my "baby guide", if you will. Well, Val has some great small businesses that from time to time offer a giveaway through her blog for her readers and right now one of those is happening! Fill in the blankie is doing a giveaway and I want to WIN! :-) You should check out their products as they are super cool. I'm dying to get one for Rhyan for her first birthday. I love this idea for friends and family who have kids! Ok, so check out the website and enjoy!
Our Week
Jeff has had the week off which has been nice (for him). I, on the other hand, am still bitter about having to get up and go to work while he enjoys time with Rhyan! (jk, sort of...). I am grateful for my job, dont get me wrong, but i want to be at home when Jeff and Rhyan are at home!
Ok, venting is done. On to the week. Jeff used a day or so to insulate the basement. It looks great and hopefully will keep it warmer down there! He also got some work done on my car (meaning he got the guys at nissan to do work on my car) and its looking/running great! While it was being worked on, we got a loaner of a 2009 altima... nice! It had so much more room!
We had Rhyans pics done by our good friend and great photographer, Christy Martin. I dont feel great about how rhyan did. We did the shoot in a little field off the road and she was totally distracted by every car that went by! But Christy is great and if anyone could get some good shots out of rhyan it would be her. For the most part, though, she did her typical stare down at Christy. Its a good thing her eyes are pretty bc she wasnt smiling much :-( I cant wait to see them, though!
And today we've got Jason and Liz's couple shower. It looks like a great day for it and i'm looking forward to it! Until then, i think we're going to try to head up to the park and enjoy the weather as a family!
I've got some AWFUL spring fever!

Funny girl...
We are really enjoying Rhyan at this age! She is just SO MUCH FUN! She has such a great personality and we are having a blast getting to see how she reacts and plays!
Here she instigated playing peek-a-boo after lunch...

Here she was supposed to be napping, but when i went in to tell her to take a nap, this is the response i got. HA!
And when Jeff went to get Rhyan from her nap on Monday he found her like this!
Man, I LOVE this little girl! And theres another new post below... so check it out!

Rhyan at 9 months
I forgot to post all the neat things Rhyan is doing now at 9 months! So i thought i'd rectify the situation :-)
We had Rhyan's 9month checkup, as i posted about earlier. At that appointment they kept asking developmental questions like "is she waving bye-bye?", "is she clapping her hands together?", and "is she crawling or getting to a sitting position from lying down?". The answer to all three of these questions was "no". As i've said before, i'm not worried about her development, but you still dont necessarily like having to answer "not yet" to so many questions. Well, that was Friday morning. And as of Saturday morning she:
-is waving bye-bye
-is clapping her hands
-is giving high 5's
WHAT A BOOGER! You know i wanted to call the dr's office and say "She's doing it ALL now, correct her chart!!!". But i didnt. They already probably think i'm a tad bit crazy. No need to confirm their suspicions :-)
Ok, and then on Monday she started SITTING UP on her own! The first time she did it was in her bed monday morning. I lay her down for a nap and heard her "talking" so after 5 minutes of her continuing to do so, i went in to tell her to shhh and go to sleep only to find her sitting up. And very proud of herself! She was clapping for herself! TOO CUTE! Of course i about died, but i very calmly told her "Mommy is SO proud of you, Rhyan! You're such a big girl! But its time for night night now. Go to sleep". And i helped her back down and she indeed went to sleep. Yes, i was tempted to try to get her to replicate it so i could watch, but she had therapy that afternoon and needed her rest.
I felt like all in one weekend, Rhyan kind of grew up a little. Its so difficult to wrap my mind around how proud i am of her and how painful it is to see her grow up. I LOVE seeing her grow and change, but with each new milestone, i am reminded that we are on a train that wont slow down and that we need to soak up every minute with her at every stage because it doesnt last long!
Oh, and the first time she sat up so that we could all watch, i about rammed into the wall because i was leaning so far over (trying to "help her" from down the hallway where i stood). I was so very proud and excited for her.
And i felt like my heart would just about burst with excitement and pride. Over her sitting up! HOW am i gonna make it through all of her firsts without being a complete basket case???!! And btw, i totally understand that every other kid in the world does all of these fantastic firsts as well, but of course its special when Rhyan does them :-) Of course! haha...
Anyways, i absolutely love this age. She's learning so much so fast! She's also started "testing" us with wanting to suck her fingers while eating. This is a no no at our table and she knows it. She'll look at us, put her fingers close to her mouth, keep looking at us, we'll tell her "no fingers, rhyan. no" and she'll smile and put the fingers in her mouth! AHHH! Boy, if that doesnt prove that we are born with a sin nature, i dont know what does! I've tried correction, re-direction and eventually started flicking her hand. That did the trick. No more fingers. Now, am i saying she never tries it? No. But all i have to say now is "no, rhyan" and she immediately removes them! Isnt it nice to see fruits of your labor!
Well, she's a doll and i'm in love, just in case you couldnt tell :-)

Ode to the Snuggie
Oh, dear snuggie...
You keep my husband warm,
and away from the blanket that i dont like to share.
You allow your sleeve to be used as a hat
and give Jeff confidence to hold a remote while staying warm.
This is his life's dream, and you have made it come true.
You sprinkle your sleepy dust on him,
and cause him to slumber
so i can get things done, uninterrupted.
You have done great things for our family.
Thank you, Snuggie. Thank you.
