First off,when did this little fella become such a good climber?! He climbed IN the van from the back, over the back seats and up to the carseats one Saturday morning when we were cleaning it out. He is EVERYWHERE! ;-)
The first Saturday morning of each month, Home Depot holds a kids clinic. This spring was one FULL of rainy days and it got pretty boring being stuck in the house. So we were pretty stoked to find something to fill a little bit of time! This was our first trip and we werent sure how it would go... Mack and tools?!
The project was a window spice planter
Rhyan was SO cute and did her little project just like her Daddy instructed her to!
Mack and I were hard at work... mostly, I was trying to keep Mack from killing himself... or me!
When they were finished they each went to pick up their apron and pin for completing the project!
I thought they were going to be able to paint their planter but the employee said the paint was just for the kids to make their hand print on a cloth that they would hang up in the store. The kids had fun with it but I thought it was pretty lame that they wouldnt let them paint the planter!
Overall, it was a good experience. Emily has told me that the Lowes clinic is WAY better but that store, for us, is about 25 min away. Home depot, on the other hand, is about 8 minutes. So home depot wins!
That same evening, we went for dinner with some of our favorite people, the Sirman family! Ken served at Oak Hill as the interim pastor for a year or so and I just fell in love with the family! Ken and Julie were so supportive and helpful as we implemented babywise for the first time with Rhyan (anyone who has used babywise principles knows you NEED an experienced parent to have on speed dial!). They are very special to us and we try to get together periodically! Here, Rhyan is a concert pianist while Callie dazzled us with her skillz on the violin! A little pre-dinner entertainment ;-)
Meanwhile, Lillie and Mack were lions who crawled around and "roar!"ed at each other . She was SO cute with him and he loved her so much! By the end of the night he was calling her "mama". LOL!
And their eldest daughter, Callie, was SO great with them both as well! It was SO fun to have dinner with the family because we were actually able to VISIT with Ken and Julie while the kids played!
We also got some encouragement from them regarding our decision to begin attending a different church. It was nice to have some objective advice and encouragement! I'm telling you, these people are wise, old souls... trapped in such youthful bodies, of course ;-)
It really was such a great day!
