Fernandina Beach: Wednesday

Since yesterday was a "pool day", Rhyan determined that today should be a "beach day". And alas, we are under the discretion of a three year old, arent we?! :-)

Jeff got up early (6ish) and went out for a bike ride "for exercise". Meaning: i'm not allowed to go :-( Because I'm "too slow". hmmm.

The rents, kids and I all got up at normal time (7ish) and enjoyed breakfast, played in the condo for a bit and got packed up for the BEACH! We were all set up with our tent and in the ocean by 9:30 am. And the water was fabulous! There was decent cloud cover and it was a perfect temp!

 

Mack and Rhyan both loved the ocean!!! We put both of their life vests on (it just makes me feel better in the waves of the atlantic.... lets face it, if we got knocked over by a wave, i need to know my kids are ok and will float to the top even if i dont... yes, morbid, i know. but it makes me feel better... ps. i'm a little scared of the ocean. lol) and headed out. Within a few minutes, jeff asked me if i had drugged Mack. He was SO relaxed his eyes were slowly closing. He seriously was just so relaxed :-) It was precious!

And Rhyan LOVED it! She was much less dramatic this day and really just enjoyed the waves!

Around 10:30 I got Mack out and we lay on the beach and he took about a 30-40 min nap on my chest. It was scrumptious! 2nd nap of the week where i held him. I swear, its some of my most precious memories... holding my babies as they sleep. It happens so infrequently but i truly do treasure those times.

When he got up we got back in the ocean for more fun! The tide was going out so we were pretty far out and the water was only mid-chin! There were lots of sandbars which was pretty fun.

 And  my favorite part of this day was 1. Seeing "Nigel" (a pelican). Rhyan thinks all pelican's are "nigel" from finding nemo :-). 2. Getting to see DOLPHINS! Not far from where we were swimming! 3. Successfully flying our KITE! and lastly 3. Seeing my babies LOVE the ocean.  At one point, Rhyan asked me "mommy, you love the ocean?!" to which i replied "well, i have never liked it in the past, but now i love it". She asked why and the answer is simple: i love what my babies love! How can you not love something that makes your kids so happy!?!

We dried off and ate our picnic lunch around 12:30 and headed on back in around 1:30. Rhyan asked her daddy at 1:05 "daddy, you come play in the ocean with me? please?". It was beyond time to go in for naps but Jeff, being the sucker wonderful daddy that he is, went back in the water with her :-).

Jeff stayed out at the beach while I came in and got the kids bathed and down for naps. Then Ronni and i went to the old school wally world (andy was with the kids) and winn-dixie and when we got back, Jeff STILL hadnt come in!

He finally came back up around 4pm. And even though he had been laying under our tent (Sleeping) in the shade, he ended up with a white handprint on his tummy from his sleeping position. HA! pretty funny!

Jeff's parents offered to keep the kids while we went to dinner so we took them up on the generous offer!

Barbara Jean's restaurant was NO disappointment :-) It was scrumptious and i LOVED my crabcakes. Jeff had catfish and enjoyed it, as well!

We also indulged in the "Chocolate stuff".... mmmm.... it was just ok to me. Yes, it was rich and yummy, but it tasted exactly like the fudge icing i make for my homemade chocolate cake. Its made stove top and warm. So while it was yummy, i kind of hated to pay for something i can make myself.

Back to the condo for an early night (for jeff) and staying up way too late editing pics for me :-)
