I would feel badly about being so behind, but then, so are many of you! haha! Its so funny to me to read blog post titles this time of year. We're all about out of steam, arent we?
I've told Jeff I think i'd like a laptop for Christmas. I'm sure ANYTHING other than my computer would upload pics quicker so i'd blog much more frequently. His response: "nah, you dont need that". Really? Cause i thought i did. hmmm.
So blame it on him that i'm behind :-)
We've "tentatively" sold our car. What exactly does that mean? Well, a very nice couple wants it and has put $1000 down on it but is having trouble getting financing for the other $8600. The wife is in a job switch right now (going from teaching to being out of the classroom and working w/ the state of GA for quality assurance in the classroom) so she's not getting her first pay check until the end of Jan. So banks want to wait until then to give a loan. We agreed to work with them on it. So we took the down payment and have agreed to not drive the car until they can take possession (when they have the money in full). This could be next week (if lending tree comes through) or next month. Luckily, we're in no huge rush. They are a very kind couple who are Christian's and we've made fast friends with them. Its been a blessing. And really, how many times have others helped us out? Its nice to be in a position of being able to help someone else for once...
We'll look for a "new" to us SUV in the spring, after our tax refund. I think i like the Kia Sorento's best w/ the 3rd row :-) Jeff says it looks like a mini van. So we'll just have to see. Keep in mind that i have yet to test drive anything! So i'm open to opinions if you all would like to share from your experiences *just keep in mind that i'm not really open to a mini van at this point. they are very practical, yes. but i'm not there yet :-)
Other than that, Rhyan has turned 20 months old and is trying more and more every day to push boundaries, say words, mimic us, etc. Except that she wont use a fork/spoon still. I guess its just easier for her to eat w/ her hands still. I'm not concerned. She eats. She doesnt throw food. So i dont really care yet how she gets the food in :-)
She's also recently started being honest and telling me "yes" when i ask if she poopied in her diaper. What a great step towards potty training (eventually) and more than that, being honest :-)
Rhyan still loves, loves, loves music and can do most of the movements to "itsy bitsy spider", "wheels on the bus" and "monkies on the bed". She tries to sing along to most songs (this means she goes something like "uhhhhhhh, mmmmmmm, uhhhhhh, eeeeee" while i sing. but the exciting part is that she pauses at the right times between phrasing :-)). She dances to EVERYTHING still (even when theres no music playing). The girl has NO inhibitions when it comes to her love for music. And that THRILLS me.
Rhyan tries to say her abc's a little when the song is playing on her toys. She always gets "G" right. When I say "one" she'll say "two" and i say "three". She appropriately loves on her baby dolls now and shows more interest in them. She still loves to push everything around... this led to the breaking of a flower pot yesterday (she thought she'd push the plant stand around which led to an "UH-OH!").
She puts herself in time out if she does something she knows she shouldnt. I only put her in time out once. Ever. She's initiated it ever since. Its precious. And i dont correct her for it. I'm glad she knows when she's done something wrong :-)
Spud is still her favorite pal, even though he barely tolerates her. Poor guy. Poor Rhyan. She just doesnt seem to realize that he doesnt like her very much :-(
My belly is growing. Its getting that firm baby bump. My 12 week ultrasound went great and the ultrasound tech said she "thinks" it "might" be a boy. I'm not buying anything for a boy, yet, lets just put it that way. We'll find out for sure on Jan 26th.
Lastly, i'm STOKED for Christmas. Rhyan is going to LOVE her presents. But mostly, i'm mindful of ways to teach her that we give b/c Christ has given so much for us. That its symbolic of our love for Him and for those He has blessed us with. I'm sure it'll take years for that to sink in, but i dont want one year to go by without making it a priority that she understand that the beginning of Gods plan for the redemption of our souls began on Christmas with the birth of a baby.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
And the Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. And we have seen His glory. The glory of the One and Only. Full of Grace and Truth.
Thank you, Jesus, for humbling yourself and being a servant for us all so that we might have a relationship with you.
My prayer for all of us is that we would not be all together too distracted to see that what He has done for us started with His birth.
