Marsha had called me back in early October with the idea of a surprise party for her and wanted to know if we could do it at our house. Of course we were more than happy to oblige!
Funny thing, though... Mommie actually said "I dont want a party for my birthday this year" on at least 2 occasions. Both after we had planned the party and invited her family and friends :-)
I'm not sure why she thinks her birthday was all about her wants, anyways... HA!
Turns out, she loved it. She thought she was just coming to our house for me to cook dinner for her (i'm sure she was terrified at the idea). So she was quite shocked to see about 30 of her family and closest friends in my kitchen, yelling "Surprise"!
I got her reaction on video, but not in a pic. But she immediatly teared up and walked back into the living room. Her brother (only living sibling) went to give her a hug and I guess she had not initially realized everyone who was there. She started crying again. It meant so much to her that he and his wife had drove so far to come!
We all enjoyed some good food and great time of just sitting around catching up.
Mommie and her best friends, Dorothy and Nat.
One of her other great friends (and maker of the best pound cake ever), Brooksie.

The great grandbabies *minus mack who was sleeping during almost ALL of the pics :-(

Mommie and her children. Mommie and Mama were being crazy. We had joked that someone should act like they were holding Mack so we could photoshop him into the pic, so they did this. I guess they think he's gargantuan!

It was such a beautiful day... the "kids" (old and young) tossed the football around!
We had a wonderful time celebrating Mommie and her wonderful life. I'm so grateful for her as are so many people. Her strength, even at 80, continues to amaze me.
